In Idaho! Just down the road from where he went to school at Ricks College aka BYU Idaho. Congratulations to him! I took a peek at the letter he got from the district judge who he will be clerking for and it said that even though the judge had interviewed many candidates, James was the best qualified. Clerking for a district judge is a very big deal!
I have totally enjoyed having James, Emily, Harris, Jack and Will with us the last few months. I have tried to remember that this is temporary and that they would be leaving sometime. So, as with many things in life, this is a very happy time for us mixed with a little sadness at their leaving.

John turns 21
John and I are sitting at my office right now, he is doing one of his favorite things to celebrate his birthday. Barbara managed to find a Nintendo Wii several weeks ago at a Wal-Mart in San Antonio so she snagged it in anticipation of John's birthday. He knows that a couple of titles will available soon so now he is all set.
John started that day off with one of his favorite attendants with a trip to the health club and then to lunch. Tonight I think we are celebrating at one of John's favorite restaurants but I could be wrong (it happens).

James is sworn in to the Texas Bar!
Last Monday, Barbara and I joined James, Emily, Harris, Jack and Will at the Erwin center downtown Austin. We were all very excited and proud to see him sworn in.
Barbara mentioned that it was interesting to have him sworn in at the same location where he graduated from high school.
I also found out that there was only one official swearing in ceremony for the state and that was here in Texas. When Barbara was sworn in (with James in vitro) it was in Fort Worth by a judge she knew.

New links
If you look on the left side of the blog you will see a box titled "Other Family Blogs." I have my own personal blog, as does Rachel and James and Emily. Recent posts from those blogs will automatically show up there. As I discover other family blogs I will add them to that list.
Grandkids come Trick or Treating to my office

One of the nice things about being a grandpa is showing off my wonderful (I was going to say great but that won't work here) grandchildren.
Harry, Jack and Will came to my office on Halloween to get some candy. It was fun showing the kids off to some of my co-workers.

Murdocks And Sons: James A. Murdock, Esquire
Nice post from Emily. She forgot to mention that James was one of the few people who refrained from reading the new Harry Potter book during this period. Emily is not the only person in the family who is very proud of James!
